Laurie Lee

BA in Piano Performance. Born in San Jose, Laurie started the Piano and then the Erhu when she was 5. At the age of 8, she began performing and became one of the 13 founding members of Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra (FYCO) in 2000. Growing up along with FYCO, Laurie served the concertmaster for many years and participated all important organizational activities, and also participated in school choirs from middle school all the way to university. Her father, Gordon Lee, taught her initial Erhu play method. Afterwards, she learned from TIAN Yongping, Song Fei, LIU Su-Chen, and HE Churong. Her Piano teachers were ZHANG Weihua and Tatiana Romanovsky. At California State University, Northridge, listed as one of the top 25 music schools in the nation, she was instructed by Prof. Dmitri Rachmanov and Prof. Edward Francis for Piano, and Prof. Nadeem Madjalany for conducting. After her college graduation in 2014, she returned to Aimusic to teach music fundamentals. In 2016, Laurie assisted planning and organizing the first International Aimusic Festival and conducted FYCO with the Bangu––the Chinese conducing heritage from traditional operas. Afterwards she continues to play a key role in every Festival. Ms. Lee enjoys seeing everyone have fun, and grow through learning music.
